Coasteering is an all action adventure based along the rocky coastline. There are over 170 coasteering activity providers in the UK and New Zealand combined. However, coasteering is a relatively new sport in Australia, with interest in this amazing adventure activity only just taking off.
As the name suggest “coasteering” is mountaineering for the coast. The adventure involves traversing a rocky coastline on foot and can include rock climbing, abseiling, swimming and wading in the water. Much of the adventure takes place within the intertidal zone (the area where waves wash up onto the rocks and beach). There are amazing things to discover in the rock pools, open ocean and atop steep headlands.
