Who’s behind Wilderness Adventures

Experienced adventure tour leader Tim Williams has owned and operated Wilderness Adventures since its inception in 2011. The business was initially based in the Blue Mountains, where the outdoor recreation industry is well established. In the Blue Mountains, Tim spent two years training in Outdoor Recreation at TAFE, becoming qualified to lead a wide range of adventure activities.
In his first year as a full-time guided Tim was awarded “Guide Of The Year” by The Social Network of Guides. An award voted on by 50 of his peers. Since this time Tim has further advanced his leadership skills and been involved in the development of Adventure Activity Standards (safety standards and good practice guides for leaders and operators) and has organised a number of free rescue training workshops for abseiling and climbing guides to improve their rescue skills and knowledge.
Tim has a wealth of outdoor industry experience, having guided abseiling, rock-climbing. bushwalking, canyoning and fishing activities since 2008. Tim has worked as an outdoor education teacher, adventure tour guide and outdoor event manager over the past two decades. He has special interests in weather forecasting, communications and outdoor safety.
Tim moved to the North Coast with his wife and family in 2017 and Wilderness Adventures moved with him, opening the door to amazing new adventures. Tim is delighted to be able to share his favourite wild places in the Northern Rivers with his guests.
